WHAT TYPES OF CHARGING IS THERE?

1. Fast Chargers:

These are installed in our homes and businesses. They will fully charge an electrical vehicle in 6-12 hours. A standard fast charging point is rated at 7kw.

2. Slow Charges:

These are also generally found in our homes and businesses. The outlet is a specifically designed 13A socket. These types are normally used as a backup but depending on your use, it can be used instead of a fast charger. These type of chargers can take up to 24 hours or more to charge your electric vehicle.

3. Super Chargers/Rapid Chargers:

These are found at Motorway services and Public locations like a pub or pay and display car park. These can give up to an 80% charge in under 30 minutes, with some claiming as little as 20 minutes.

What types of Plugs & Connectors are available?

-There are two types available: Type 1 or Type 2.

-Type 2 is the most commonly used in the UK. Depending on manufacturers both plugs will charge up to 32A.

The Type 2 can be used in a single phase (Domestic mainly) and three phases (Commercial & Industrial) installations. Please note 3 phase charger points do enable quicker charging (subject to conditions).
